This is the collection of expanded abstracts presented at the Ninth International Geostatistics Congress in Oslo June 11 - 15, 2012. The rest of the presentations are published as reviewed papers in the conference proceedings published by
Springer.
The series of International Geostatistics Congresses was initiated in Frascati in 1975 and has been arranged every fourth year since the Avignon congress in 1988:

- Avignon, France in 1988
- Tróia, Portugal in 1992
- Wollongong, Australia in 1996
- Cape Town, South Africa in 2000
- Banff, Canada in 2004
- Santiago, Chile in 2008
- Oslo, Norway in 2012
The International Geostatistics Congress has been an important arena for sharing and discussing the development of geostatistics in all these years. We are proud to welcome the congress back to Europe after 20 years of travelling the world. The Ninth International Geostatistics Congress was arranged by Norwegian Computing Center, University of Oslo, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
